Fun at Movie Festival By joel

Yesterday we went to our film festival at Sylvia Park Hoyts. I went in Khunfs car with Julia. When we got there, a lot of children from other schools were waiting outside the theater. I practised my speech while we were waiting. Next, we went into the big screen room and we watched lot of other films that different schools have made. Then our class film came on. I went up to a little stage with Mina and we introduced our class film. After that Mina and I ,sat back down and we watched our movie. That was so good. After all  the films were done, we went to the food court and had our morning tea there. We also had a frozen coke there. Then we had a little look around JB HI-FI and came back to school. I had a really awesome time at the film festival and my favorite film there was the “volcano“ one by Finn from EW3. It taught us some important facts about the volcanos around Auckland.

During my  October holiday, I went to Japan with my mum, dad and brother.  We first went to the Airport. I was wearing an Ariana Grande t-shirt and a pair of jeans.  My brother kept me busy by showing me some tricks.  We waited for our plane to come.  We had something to eat.  Then we went inside the aeroplane. I was watching  The Big Bang Theory and I was listening to  Charlie Puth.  In  Japan, we went to the wax museum. My mum took a  photo of me
and  Justin Biber and Michael  Jackson. I also saw a wax statue of Tom Cruise who was on a bike. We rode on a bullet train in Japan. It went very fast.  I had a great time.

Train Trip To Sylvia Park by Joel

During the second week of my holiday, I caught the train by myself to Sylvia Park. First I had to catch a bus from the Howick Intermediate bus stop to the Panmure station. When I got there I hopped onto the train which took me to Sylvia Park. Next, I hopped off and went to the mall. I had lunch at the food court. After that, I went into a few shops like Countdown and The Warehouse. I got onto another train that took me to Manukau. When I got off the train I went across to Rainbows End where my mum works and I met her there and went home with her. It was really awesome for me to go on a train by myself.

20170921_104055.jpg20170921_103351.jpgOn Thursday last week my class and I want to Te Oro in Glen Innes to check out everybody’s art work. I went there with my Mum and Dad because I live near to Te Oro. My Mum and Dad stayed with me for few minutes and checked out a class who was singing and playing with sticks. After watching the performance, my Mum and I went to check out our “Polluted sea” display which we worked on with EWC 3. I saw a lot of rubbish my class and Edgewater 3  had collected from home. Our class made  Blowfishes, eels and a turtle! I smiled when I saw the polluted room and even saw some bean bags from our classroom. After that, I said goodbye to my Mum because my Mum and Dad had to go back home.  I painted Volcano’s and helped create a Volcano art sculpture with some of my classmates. We then went to another room to make bags with Shelley and it was fun making bags with my classmates. I went to my favourite room which was the ICT room with Matthew, Thiha and Kaine and made music. I had so much fun.Even I saw one of Julia’s artworks, which was a very beautiful Mountain. I said goodbye to my class and went home with my Mum and Dad. 20170921_101452.jpg

Turning Bush into Butter By Mina

This photo is an Informal photograph taken at Winiata near Taihape. It was also taken when new technology made it easier to photograph what went on in the world outside the studio. I can see one cat, two dogs and two cows in this photograph. Mum and dad are milking the house cows. The family nationality is Maori. This photo was taken by  Edward George Child. You had to burn down native bush if you wanted to get rid of it for farming. It was hard work that went into making and running a farm but it also had a negative impact on our forests. Gone forever. The photographer show part of a forest which is still alive and a lot of burnt trees in the background. The good and the bad.

We put on two paper eyes. Next, we put on two paper fins. Then we put on a paper tail on its back. After that, we left it for a few days before they were done. All abour Earthquakes by Matthew

Last Week we learned about Earthquakes.
An earthquake is a sudden violent shaking of the ground.
Earthquake - WikipediaFirst of all, what should you do before an Earthquake? Practice Drop, cover and hold.  Find a safe place close to you at home, school or shops. Planning for survival you will need supplies for at least 3-7 days. You will need food, water, and blankets. Good things to also have are warm clothes, raincoat, torch, radio, and batteries. Don’t forget the first aid kit. Then after an Earthquake, we must remember to switch off electricity, water, and gas. Try to put out small fires if there is a big fire, get out. Check on Neighbours and help.

What to do in a Earthquake by Joel

What is an Earthquake?
An Earthquake is a sudden violent shaking of the ground, typically causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action.

Last week our class learned about what we should do in an Earthquake. First of all, what should you do before an Earthquake?
Practice an Earthquake drill and identify a safe place.
To plan for survival, you will need supplies for at least 3-7 days. You will need food, water, a torch, blankets, a first aid kit and washing supplies. What should you do while an Earthquake is happening? Go out to a very open place. If you can’t go out of the building,  drop, cover and hold, where there’s  no windows or stuff that can fall onto you.

What should you do after an Earthquake? Contact all of your friends and family people to see if they are okay. If a friend or family member has found a safer place go there if you can.
