Fun at Movie Festival By joel
Yesterday we went to our film festival at Sylvia Park Hoyts. I went in Khunfs car with Julia. When we got there, a lot of children from other schools were waiting outside the theater. I practised my speech while we were waiting. Next, we went into the big screen room and we watched lot of other films that different schools have made. Then our class film came on. I went up to a little stage with Mina and we introduced our class film. After that Mina and I ,sat back down and we watched our movie. That was so good. After all the films were done, we went to the food court and had our morning tea there. We also had a frozen coke there. Then we had a little look around JB HI-FI and came back to school. I had a really awesome time at the film festival and my favorite film there was the “volcano“ one by Finn from EW3. It taught us some important facts about the volcanos around Auckland.

Inter ct Art Festivel By Joel
On Thursday I went to the InterAct Art Festival in Henderson with my class and the two other classes. First of all, we travelled in three cars to get to the base school. I went into Val's car. Next, we went onto a bus to get to the festival. When we got there we went inside and I first painted a picture with a lot of patterns on it. Then I went and made a hat. I made a dog hat. After that, we all went and watched some performers. Matthew, Kyi Kyaw and Kaine took part in the wearable arts parade. Next, we had lunch and us to the top sidewalk to try and get a bus to take us back to school, but our bus got cancelled so we had to wait on the grass for another bus to come. Finally, when the new bus came we went onto it and it took us back to the base school where the taxi picked me up. I had a really awesome time at the arts festival.

When I got there I hopped onto the train which took me to Sylvia Park. Next, I hopped off and went to the mall. I had lunch at the food court. After that, I went into a few shops like Countdown and The Warehouse. I got onto another train that took me to Manukau. Te Oro Art Exhibition by Mina
On Thursday last week my class and I want to Te Oro in Glen Innes to check out everybody’s art work. I went there with my Mum and Dad because I live near to Te Oro. My Mum and Dad stayed with me for few minutes and checked out a class who was singing and playing with sticks. After watching the performance, my Mum and I went to check out our “Polluted sea” display which we worked on with EWC 3. I saw a lot of rubbish my class and Edgewater 3 had collected from home. Our class made Blowfishes, eels and a turtle! I smiled when I saw the polluted room and even saw some bean bags from our classroom. After that, I said goodbye to my Mum because my Mum and Dad had to go back home. I painted Volcano’s and helped create a Volcano art sculpture with some of my classmates. We then went to another room to make bags with Shelley and it was fun making bags with my classmates. I went to my favourite room which was the ICT room with Matthew, Thiha and Kaine and made music. I had so much fun.Even I saw one of Julia’s artworks, which was a very beautiful Mountain. I said goodbye to my class and went home with my Mum and Dad.

I still feel really really sad that your Dad has passed away. I have prayed for your family last night and I will continue to do it for the rest of the week. I wish I was with you right now to give you a hug.
From Joel
Hi Mina
I am so sad to hear your dad had a heart attack. He was the best dad I have ever seen. We all are going to miss your Dad’s friendly greetings and smiles when he came to fetch you at school. I am missing you today, you are my best friend and I miss your friendly smile in class. I wish I could give you a big hug like you always give us when we are sad. Thinking of you and your family.

Hi Mina
I am sorry to hear about your Dad. You were lucky to have such a good Dad. Now you can remember him with happiness. We miss your friendly smiles in class.
From Kaine Castle
Dearest Mina, Mavis and family,
We are still shocked and speechless about the sad passing of a loving husband and father.
We all knew him well, he always had something good to say and would help anybody if he would. The wonderful way he kept the family together when mum was ill. He was truly a good man and has left footprints in all our hearts.
Mina, we miss you in class, your lovely smile and your comforting hugs. Wish we would be with you now and hand out those lovely hugs as you always do when we are sad or worried.
Just remember, loved ones die, but don’t leave us. They are always there, part of our lives and one day we will all be together again.
Be strong and courageous in this sad time. Our prayers are with you always.
Lots of love,
Valerie, Shyama, Gayle and Khunaf.

Turning Bush into Butter By Mina
This photo is an Informal photograph taken at Winiata near Taihape. It was also taken when new technology made it easier to photograph what went on in the world outside the studio. I can see one cat, two dogs and two cows in this photograph. Mum and dad are milking the house cows. The family nationality is Maori. This photo was taken by Edward George Child. You had to burn down native bush if you wanted to get rid of it for farming. It was hard work that went into making and running a farm but it also had a negative impact on our forests. Gone forever. The photographer show part of a forest which is still alive and a lot of burnt trees in the background. The good and the bad.
